Kate (a British) and I (a Singaporean) knew each other since we were schoolgirls. We were penpals. The term 'penpals' must sound strange to people born after the 80s, but that was the way young people in my generation did when we wanted to get to know friends from other countries, we would write to one another, using snail mail. Kate and I had never met until this December when my family could make our first trip to UK and finally get to meet her and her family and toured together for 2 days. We were at the Christmas market near the London Eye. Initially, I wasn't keen to take the London Eye because there was a long queue, moreover, in Singapore, we also have our Singapore Flyer. However, Kate encouraged us to try the London Eye because a trip to London isn't quite complete without it. We agreed, and we went on to try it! What a fantastic experience viewing the famous landmarks of London from the London Eye! In the late afternoon, after the sun set at 1600 hr, the glittering streetlights and Christmas lighting formed a mesmerizing atmosphere in the cabin, which were filled with tourists/locals eager to capture the beautiful night scenery into their cameras. We couldn't get enough of the scenery in the short half-an-hour ride. Will be back for more in our next trip to London. And thank you for the lovely friendship time with Kate and her family on the London Eye. @Kate: you were very right, we are glad we had listened to you. Collapse

The London eye is well worth a visit. It will give you a great view of Big Ben and the Parlament, and central London. If visiting in the weekend I recommend to prebook online fast track tickets to avoid spending a long wait before entering. We did, and was entering within less than 10 minutes. Easiest access is by taxi or by the underground (London Brigde station) Collapse

If you really want to have one of the best overviews over London...then you have to try the London eye. It’s a must! Indeed...the price is just a little bit expensive..but trust me, it is worth it!

Visited the eye in August 2018 with multi generational family (5 years old to grandparents, including tweens). Before arriving in London, I had already purchased tickets with a set time, intending to eliminate wait time bc our time in London was limited and know how difficult it would have been to wait for long period with so many varied family members. We visited the eye during the week bf noon. We arrived 15 mins bf our scheduled time, and walked directly into short cue. Time on the eye only takes about 15-20 mins. It’s visually designed well and as New Yorkers, I have to admit we (adults) were not expecting too much. But also have to admit it was great fun. The kids absolutely Loved it and thought it was the coolest thing. The views were quite good even on overcast day. The lines to wait generally were not that long for others without pre purchased tickets. However, when I went to visit the london aquarium right next door on Saturday, the lines for the eye went quite quite long...maybe hr or more wait times. Although we enjoyed the eye very much, I think it was in part due to the fact that we didn’t wait for it. I am not sure any of us, even kids would have enjoyed it as much after waiting for hr or more. I think they would have enjoyed it but also been slightly disappointed bc it is rather short time on the Ferris wheel. So if your budget and planning allows, I recommend buying a ticket time, preferably during the week and for a time early in the day bc so many people want to see the views towards sunset time. We had great time but not sure we would have felt the same after waiting long time when there’s so much else to see in London. Collapse

Great attraction for people of all ages, it may not be a thrill ride or a jet boat down a river in New Zealand !! but it is great, a real must do. Great views up and down the Thames and a chance to see new buildings being developed the icons of the city like Parliament House, the trains stations and parks. We visited in the Winter on a slightly dull day but it in no way spoilt the enjoyment. The Eye travels at a gentle pace so you do get time to appreciate the views and move around the capsule to have a look at all views. Spent most of the time standing but each capsule does have a large bench in it and can still get views whilst seated. If you are travelling with someone who has an issue with heights this may be OK for them. My husband can't cope with going out on observation decks in tall buildings but he coped with the max height The Eye reached and felt secure just by staying away from the very edge of the fully enclosed capsule. We purchased tickets on the day from the onsite ticket box, not too long a queue, this may have been because we weren't there in Summer or on a weekend. If time is an issue all sorts of tickets can be purchased online too including combo tickets for other attractions and also a Fast Track ticket option for The Eye, but if everyone's buying Fast Track you still could be queuing !!. There is also a souvenir shop onsite too. Don't stress.....E N J O Y The Eye never stops moving so it is run very efficiently, as each capsule comes round visitors get out, staff go in for checks and cleaning and then new visitors get on, each capsule never goes round empty. Would highly recommend, even if you don't go for a ride it's a great bit of architecture in it's own right with huge pylons, legs and cables, it's big !!. Collapse
